Harley-Davidson shares were marked 10.7% lower in pre-market trading following the earnings release, indicating an opening bell price of $32.7 each, a move that would wipe out all of the stock’s gains for the past three months and value the Milwaukee, Wisconsin-based group at around $5.4 billion.
The motorcycle maker is battling declining sales as its core riders age, particularly in the United States, its largest market.
On average, riding a motorcycle for 20 minutes increased participants heart rates by 11 percent and adrenaline levels by 27 percent, similar to light exercise. Changes in the riders’ brain activity suggested an increase in alertness similar to drinking a cup of coffee. Sensory focus was enhanced while riding, versus driving a car, meaning that riders were more alert to what was going on around them. On the bike, many riders say they tune out anything that’s not relevant to the road. The study, which used electroencephalogram equipment to measure brain activity, seemed to validate that point.
The study, from the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior at the University of California, Los Angeles, says results are similar to light exercise.
Huub Langedijk and his dad thought replacing a Honda CB750’s gas tank and forks would be all there is to the build. They were wrong but finished anyway.
Like the show bike. this one is based on a Honda CB750 Nighthawk. Owner Huub Langedijk gave it a full teardown and rebuild, with the help of his dad, on its way to becoming a Walking Dead replica. It has the same color scheme including the patina on the swapped Yamaha XS650 gas tank, recreated using a mixture of beer and salt. It also has inverted sportbike forks, likely from a Yamaha R6 like the show bike, aftermarket shocks, and chunky dirt tires.
One owner. Bought brand new from a dealer near the factory and kept inside as a showpiece. Only driven a few times on the road…. 97 miles driven is correct. The bike has the S&S 111 cu in engine, and the key upgrades are the Custom Paint job ($8000) and Diamond Cut Engine fins ($2000). MSRP brand new was $42,000+. This was one of the last bikes to come out of the factory… and I believe they saved their best for last. The brilliance of the color scheme of the flames on this paint job against the chromed out backdrop of the bike has an overwhelming effect on all enthusiasts who see it. This was a one-off… not another one made like this one. Moving so need to lighten the load. First acceptable offer takes this home. find it here
Super low miles.
Beautiful show bike.
A little video of another American Ironhorse Texas Chopper.
